Hi,
I recently got a Spectrocam spectro and Monaco Proof and have been profiling
different papers for use with an Epson 3000 and 7500. Last Friday I got a
paper from Sihl called Piezo Photo Glossy which is specifically qualified
for piezo type heads and upon testing, the paper did not past muster with
the 7500 and Epson pigment but it did wonderfully with the 3000 and dye
inks. The Spectrocam measured a 2.7 black density from the Epson 3000 and
Piezo Photo Glossy paper which is rather high compared to Epson Photo Glossy
Paper which measured 2.1. The 3000 is currently using Dataproducts dye
inks.
I have attempted profiling the Epson 3000/Dataproducts inks with Piezo Photo
Glossy paper 3 times with Monaco Proof set for the >700 color patch set.
Upon creation of the 3 different profiles, I would view a soft proof in
Photoshop 6 and then print it out to the 3000. All 3 times the test image
came out with a magenta cast which did not reflect what was shown in soft
proof.
The nozzles of the 3000 check fine and I printed out images on other
profiled papers for the 3000 and no difference between the print and soft
proof view from Photoshop.
In trying to figure out what is happening, I am curious if the problem could
be related to brighteners in the paper and that I need a UV filter equipped
spectro to profile this paper.
Any help greatly appreciated
David
