Just a thought...when the original tiff file was saved, was the byte order
set to "Macintosh" or "IBM PC"?

That and the file name extension I learned a long time ago the hard way -
didn't realize it had to be done until a customer complained they couldn't
open the file. I now make it a standard practice whether the file is strictly
for me, or is going to a client. Two less things to have to worry about.
