you can do about it...
Out of curiosity, I compared our own custom Matchprint profile with our
profiles for Epson Semigloss Photo paper. It so happens that the
Matchprint profile fits entirely within my custom profile for the Epson
dye inks. With the pigmented Epson inks (using the Premium Semigloss
paper) there are chunks missing out of the green and red corners, but
the gamut outlines on the flat CIE xy-chart still touch at yellow. In
any case, our proofs look spot on with a Matchprint of the same CMYK
file, yellow included, whereas the proprietary Imation Rainbow
dye-sublimation proofs are only so-so (very pretty, but they don't match
the Matchprint).
I use a Wasatch RIP, but perhaps using an RGB driver (Epson or the Fiery
RIP) affects the Epson gamut? Or maybe our Matchprint laminates are just
a little poor on yellow...
