I suggest you to look to the ISO 12647-1, 12647-2 and 12647-3 (Isocolor)
descriptions too.
The 12647-3 is used for newspaper applications and other cold set printing
material on non-coated stock.
The ISO 12647-2 is used for sheetfed and web offset CMYK prints.
The German Fogra and the IFRA newspaper organisations are promoting the
usage of these standards.
GATF is doing the same in the US; they however don't make a clear deinition
of the differences between the newest SWOP standards and ISO 12647-2.
At least that's what I observed; perhaps someone from GATF can comment on
my observations.
