I'm afraid I don't recall that particular discussion. The plan is to add
a Part 2 to 12640, with 8-bit sRGB and 16-bit XYZ encodings, both
limited to the sRGB gamut and with a D65 white point. 16-bit CIELAB with
a D50 white point will be Part 3.

The main use of the XYZ images is in research - it is not anticipated
that there will be application support.
