I have been building profiles with PrintOpen 4.0 PC for the Epson 7000 (dye
based) and the semi gloss paper. I have tried various settings in BEST for
my top end densities (baseline) and total ink weight, and each profile I
create seems to bring the slight changes in the BEST baseline of the printer
into line (I would expect this), and the inkjet printouts are generally a
close match - using the same reference profile of course (Custom built Agfa
proof profile).
The issue is that I have been using the ISO 12640 test images, and the top
end densities for the yellow (the left violinist's shirt) do not make it, as
it seems there is not enough yellow density in the BEST baseline to match
the reference profile.
I have been using an other image (the cyclegear image by Agfa) that the
yellow shirt (if you know the image) is too saturated, as if there is too
much density in the top end of the paper profile.
I then change the reference profile (custom built to match another Epson dye
based printer - different rip), and I get the same sort of changes that I
see between the two reference profiles, but the changes in color and
saturation seem to move in the 'opposite direction' than with the first
reference profile, although the color match is much closer, as I would
expect due to the fact that I am using the same stock and the same inks
(paper and reference profiles).
I am viewing the inkjet output under a D50 lightbulb (not a viewing booth -
that is on order !) and also outside in the daylight.
If I have done as much as I can in building my baseline and profiles
correctly, and I am currently not simulating the paper white (Colormetric
Realitive) where should I look to start editing my profiles ?
PrintOpen allows me to adjust the overall dot gain and the curves for the
Global Grad. for each separate channel (in the proof and print component)
and of course the grey balance, but should I be looking to a visual editor
like ColorBlind Edit ?
And which profile should I be editing, when there are three choices ?
Darrin.
