pure PostScript file with an embedded CSA?

This is what you get with a CMYK mode document in Illustrator 9 when you select PostScript Color Management in the Print Space panel in the print dialog for PSPrinter.

Distiller 4.0.5 converts the CMYK object that references the CSA into Lab, but say grayscale objects stay deviceGray.

The danger is that people in networked environments print to Distiller 4 hotfolders in order to create PDF.

In some of the application manuals there is endorsement of PostScript Color Management, and they might think they need to select this option in the printer driver.

Hope this helps.
