Maybe I'm missing something, or the update didn't install right, but
the softproofs from AI902 look broken.
A newsprint softproof with Proof Colors selected (should be relative
colorimetric with black point compensation) shows heavy heavy orange
skintones.
Mode changing with File...Document Color Mode gets more normal
skintones, but even when the document is in CMYK mode, there is no
way to switch the CMYK to RGB transform to absolute colorimetric to
get believable colors.
With Photoshop 5X mode changing into CMYK and deselecting black point
compensation allowed true relative or absolute rendering to the
monitor. Here there doesn't seem to be any workaround with AI902.
If the same profile is selected as CMYK working space / Color
Settings as in Profile / Proof Setup, then the intent in the Color
Settings should determine RGB to CMYK and the intent in Proof Setup
should determine CMYK to RGB. This doesn't look like the right line
of thinking, going by the softproof.
Thinking of Profile / Proof Setup as an override on CMYK working
space / Color Settings doesn't seem to work either.
The help guides speak of softproofing RGB monitor spaces, I suppose
because of the Web focus.
Hmm...any ideas?
