sounds like you are in a similar situation to me. I recently purchased
the spyder for my home system, and last night set out to squeze some life
out of my Apple Colorsync monitor that is definitely pushing 3 years.
I too, could not get the screen "bright" enough to see the boxes. Even
previously using colorsync calibration i havent been able to see the grey
oval inside the black box for a while....as a matter of fact, i dont
think i know enough about it to have noticed when that started happeneing.
My thought had been to get the LaCie 19 inch, and i was just wondering
what is making you go with the Sony (which sony?) is it the adjustible
guns or some other issue? I saw the Lacie for under $540 last night and
was tempted to buy, but i keep putting off this purchase......i just KNOW
that whatever i buy, they'll come up with something better and less
expensive.

thanks.
