Well, I have learned a lot in the last few days, but still can't get a
neutral monitor profile from PhotoCal.
I talked to their Tech guy and he was helpful, telling me also about turning
off the extensions of other color management/calibration software, etc. I
told him I had trouble adjusting the screen brightness to clearly see the
gray boxes during the pre calibration portion of the program and I was told
it was time to buy a new monitor. He basically said that If I couldn't get
that part adjusted the way he wanted me too, all bets were off.
So, I'm picking up a new Sony with individually adjustable rgb guns
Thursday.
I still can't help but wonder if there isn't a fault in the Spyder itself.
It is supposed to have 7 sensors in it and if one has gone haywire, that
could explain the gross color difference between profiles and between the
monitor and output.
For the gentleman wanting to know if I have a 5000K booth available, (I do
view my transparencies on a 5000K light box) the kind of differences I am
seeing are so great as to be evident moving from daylight, to tungsten, to
fluorescent, to the lightbox.
I will borrow the Spyder again and try it on the new monitor later in the
week.
Thanks for all the advice and help.
