Hi,
I recently purchased Optical with Spyder. The Lacie 19" does not give you
the option of manually adjusting the RGB guns. When using the Spyder, the
monitor configuration window overlaps the Precal patches-calibration window
so that you have to wait for it to turn itself off to get a decent reading.
Of course, you can move the Spyder along with its patches-cali window across
the screen, but about half way through the process the patches-cali window
reverts to the default "centre screen" position.
I would make sure that with your new purchase that you CAN adjust the RGB
guns.
I take it from the pdf notes that it may not be of use to run Precal on a
monitor without adjustable guns, therefore, should I/we calibrate visually
(Control Panel >Monitors) and then run Optical or let Precal do its best
under the circumstances.
I would like to pass on a BIG Thank You to all the contributors on this list
and especially David Miller and Shane Disney at Colorvision for their help
understanding and patience.

Better, Yes. Less expensive, No.
Please excuse my grammar this a.m. but I spent 3 hrs late last night
unblocking an Epson printer nozzle using Oban single malt, most of which
ended up inside the operator. The Epson is working perfectly....
Slamnte,
