I'm not arguing against ICC color servers, or building ICC color server functionality into RIPs.

I'm arguing against using PostScript Color Management for production workflows. As I mentioned, you can have some objects in the page map to the in-RIP CRD and other objects map to the ICC printer profile and from there to deviceCMYK which the RIP images by the numbers. This is just an example, but one patterned on the recent Distiller 4 thread.
