I finished the testing of the 3000. Basically these tests reconfirm my
belief that the 3000 can be considered and profiled as a CMYK composite
printer when driven via the stylus RIP and an older (8.3.1) version of the
Laserwriter driver. It may be important to set up the Laserwriter driver
properly. I did not use the default settings, but made sure to use
color/grayscale, CMYK simulation off etc. etc.

I've profiled several Epson 3000s running the Epson RIP as CMYK devices and it works fine. True, there is not much control over details like ink limit etc, but it works pretty well with CompassProXT or ICC Autoflow and the improvement over a non-ICC workflow is huge.
