Color Management with Nikon Scanners

Has anyone on the list tackled color management with the new Nikon scanners
-- the 4000ED or 8000ED? I'm interested in purchasing the latter, but am
concerned about either (a) being able to profile it with third party
software (such as ProfileCity's scanner profile creation software) and
applying the profile from within the Nikon software, or (b) being able to
export 48 bit unmodified images (with no internal Nikon color correction
applied) to Photoshop and then applying a profile from within Photoshop.
Has anyone experimented with the new Nikon software, and is it possible to
do either of the above? I understand that Silverfast will be supporting the
new Nikon scanners, so I guess that's another option, but then you give up
the ability to use ICE. I think that ICE will be especially important with
the 8000ED when using the glass holders (helpful for 6cm x 9cm slides to get
perfectly flat slides and hence sharp scans) becasue there will be
additional surfaces to collect dust. Has anyone on the list tried/ beta
tested either of these scanners? How does the quality compare to say, the
Imacon scanners? Thanks, Howard Slavitt
