Printing CMYK from Quark vs. Photoshop to color laser

  • Subject: Printing CMYK from Quark vs. Photoshop to color laser

I'm still struggling to get colormanaged output from a Quark document to
a QMS 6100 color laser. I now switched from RGB to CMYK for the
testprints.

When printing the same CMYK file from Photoshop and Quark (3.31), with
the same printer settings, they look very different. I would have
expected the two prints to look the same now that they're in CMYK, but
the Quark print was much darker. I know that the Photoshop print is
correct, since I've succesfully made profiles that way for use in
Indesign. Thus the Quark print is not, and thus my troubles I guess...

If I could get Quark to print CMYK the same as PS, then I'd probably have
my problems solved (using Compasspro to process the RGB images that I
actually want to print).

Why would Quark and PS print the same CMYK file so differently? Any
suggstions on how I can get them to print the same?

Thanks,
Wim
