Pigment inks and glossy papers both are factors, and pigment inks on glossy
papers are the worst, as well as suffering from other problems. If you can
live with semi-gloss or lustre surfaces then pigment inks are excellent.
Epson's encapsulated pigment inks have more pronounced metamerism than other
pigments, but also have better adhesion, larger gamut, and deeper blacks, so
its a trade off. The 5500 reduces the metamerism to about 50% of what it is
with the 2000p, 7500, and 9500, by using improved dithering (odd as that may
sound).
