Larry,

I don9t know your printing conditions ( web or sheet fed) but the PS6 color
engine is based on using icc profiles and uses dot gain information based
on how each of profile was created for a printing condition. I believe the
dot gain values are described in the Blatner/Fraser/ RealWorld Photoshop
book ,but I don9t think they ( the dot gain values for PS6 profiles) are
defined to an exact specification anywhere. As for the gray balance in the
default PS 6 profiles and their relationship to traditional printing it is
close to text book gray balances that create the appearance of neutral gray
that traditional pre-press and printing businsesses might expect.

I am not really sure what you are looking for, but if you want a seat of the
pants solution to fix gray balance and dot gain in PS 6, IHMO you don9t need
one with the supplied PS6 profiles, unless you have pre-press and printing
process with unusual characteristics that falls outside of the traditional
proofing and printing process.
