Ed and others, if you're talking about professional photography events, they
have a standard of lighting for their print competitions that makes it easy
to print for. However, yes, their exhibits which are often in hotel or
convention center halls, will look like hell. However, at that point you've
already got your scores from the judges under controlled conditions. You
won't get far with the people's choice awards unless either everyone is
colorblind or everyone else also printed with the archival inks.
"I can't see explaining this silliness to twenty people a day. And its not
educating,
its apologizing. I've got a problem with that!"
This is a very good point and well taken. I fortunately don't deal with
volumes of clients. So, it's easier for me and it does seem more "educating"
but, you're right, it's "apologizing". I understand that Epson has found that
by laying down the inks in various proportions at various times that they are
getting rid of the metamerism. This has something to do with changing the
algorithms of the software drivers. However, I've been hearing this from my
contacts in Epson for about a year now and haven't seen any updates on those
drivers. If anyone has, let me know.
Best to all,
