I am curious to hear how digital print shops, using colour copiers
such as the Xerox DocuColor line, are dealing with colour mangement
issues.
Specifically, how many shops have consciously implemented some form
of colour mangement, and what form does that colour mangement take,
ie are they managing colour at the rip, at the
application/workstation level. or?
We deal with a variety of clients, some of whom are utilizing
profiles, many who are not. At this point, we manage colour at the
RIP level (using our Fiery EX2000 rip), assigning a standard source
profile for all RGB data. (We request RGB files). For images that are
caught prior to output that have embedded source profiles, I convert
from "customers' RGB source" profile to our standardized RGB source
profile, then process as normal.
I'm looking for a way to relatively easily utilize customers' source
profiles for conversion, if present, or to assign something generic
if absent.
Any thoughts and ideas appreciated.
