+++++ ColorWise 3 and new Fiery Graphic Arts Package
As I stated above, we have announced ColorWise 3 and will begin shipping it
in Fiery products soon. Some of the new features in ColorWise 3 which change
the data flow description above are:
CMYK Simulation: Full - Output GCR. This new method performs a complete CMYK
-> PCS -> CMYK conversion from Simulation Profile to Output Profile without
preserving the black channel. This is same thing that most CMM's do, so it
will behave more like ColorSync and other CMM's, and will work as expected
with output profiles that have been edited on the PCS -> CMYK side.
Paper Simulation. This is a switch between relative colorimetric and
absolute colorimetric rendering for the CMYK -> PCS -> CMYK conversion
described in the previous paragraph. This feature will be available as part
of the Fiery Graphic Arts Package.
Spot-On. This is a new component of ColorWise Pro Tools, also purchased as
part of the Fiery Graphic Arts Package, which allows user to import Named
Color profiles to the Fiery as well as edit the built in named color
profiles and create new named color profiles.
+++++ As you can see, EFI embraces ICC based color management, and we have
been building ColorWise to be a very complete and flexible server based
color management system. I hope that this information on the most recent
versions of ColorWise is helpful in clearing up some of the confusion.
I apologize in advance that I may not be able to give prompt replies to some
of the follow up posts that are likely to come.

David Macy
