Friends
I have a photographer colleague who wishes to simply layout
photo's in Quark Xpress passport 4.04 - in order to setup &
print a portfolio to a profiled Epson or Canon printer
[Quickdraw / no rip].
It looked like the Helios Colorsync 2 XT 2.1.1 would do the
job (and at a great price). But apparently, although we can get
it to see the input and output profiles, it will not <see> the
monitor profile. he is using 9.1 so I guess that may be it [not
Colorsync 2]. Apparently the XTension communicates with
Colorsync 2x to get the monitor profile - but perhaps not with
3x?
Is it possible to get Helios XT to work right with OS 9.1 [either
to print and display correctly, or just to print Quickdraw] - and
indeed does it even work right with a Quickdraw printer [not
profiled yet, so too early to test if it's doing the profile
conversion here].
Since the images have been colour corrected in Photoshop I
guess screen accuracy is not very important, but the lack of
communication with Colorsync 3 makes me suspect that perhaps
profile conversion to the Epson may not operate properly either.
There is no need to simulate a CMYK press in this instance so
would one simply enter the Epson RGB profile as printer and
proofer or leave printer field as none.
Sorry for the questions, I've read the manual but didn't find
the answers. Am I banging my head against a wall with this?? If
the Helios XTN will not do the job, should I get him to buy the
Praxisoft Compass Pro XT as I presume that will hand off
properly to a Quickdraw printer.
Yeah, Henrik, I know InDesign is the answer but this guy is
unfortunately somewhat impoverished after a Flextight PIII
purchase. I'm workin' on it.
