The June 2001 thread on CRT monitors (17" & 19") suitable for
good monitor calibration (preferably with individual gun
controls) came up with...
Mitsubishi DP920
LaCie 19"
and some of the Sony monitors.
I am in the final stages of gathering information on monitors in
order to make a
recommendation for our computer labs in 2002 (MAC).
Has the situation changed any with the 17 to 19 inch CRT
monitors?
Any opinions or input welcomed.
William Hollingsworth at Mitsubishi informs me the next generation of
19" DP monitors will have individual gun controls due to user demand.
Currently the DP920 (and discontinued 900u) allow full range
5000-9300k adjustment only - no three-gun adjust. Apparently the Mit
DP2060 22" and the NEC FP955 do, but I have not verified that.
I just calibrated the Mit DP920 (new) with Optical/Spyder and it was
a far easier experience than the Lacie 19" (same tube) and the
interface is easy.
PreCal returned a better RGB balance than expected, though there are
two distinct lines crossing the screen at any resolution which are
distracting and minor phosphor edge artifices right and bottom right.
Not bad for out of the box at $650(Cdn) but no hood and beige body.
Also appears to balance better (no discernable waver) at 1152x870
75hz than the default 1024x768. Fine Picture Mode is a default 9300k
locked setting good for someone somewhere but not me (d6500 2.2 kind
of guy).
I would be interested in anyone with recommendations and info on the Sonys too.
