Curious, is there another word then that can be assigned to
this? I noticed in C. David Tobie's response to my original
post that he was putting "metamerism" in quotes, and from his
other comments gathered that what I'm seeing does not fully
meet the definition.
Indeed the definition seems fluid, like attempting to define
entropy, it takes a few paragraphs.
My contact for this project has an Epson 2000 at his office
and is aware that attempting to produce grayscale prints is
problematic at best and that one must consider lighting
conditions for best viewing. When I mentioned and used the
word metamerism for my prints he was at least aware of it, and
knew the word, which of course made talking about easier.
I am going to see if I can get a few different sample prints
done to see if I can find an ink and paper combination that at
least shifts less dramatically. Final viewing conditions for
this project is unknown at this point. First up is the Epson
10000, a vendor will help with that... he wants to make a
sale. <g>
Thanks to all for your responses and suggestions, I've got
some home work yet, but back to the scotch for now.
