Hello all -
We are trying to profile our high-end digital camera/scanner (Phase One FX)
with Monaco Profiler 3.x software. Our application is scanning fine art
(canvas and watercolor-based original artwork). We used a Kodak IT-8 target
initially, however the resulting profile was much smaller than the factory
profile from Phase One, and not very good. Also, we are concerned that
scanning a photo-paper target like an IT-8 is not the same as scanning a
target on canvas or watercolor paper (light reflection/absorption, color
gamut, etc).
So the question is: can we create a custom scanner target on canvas or
watercolor (using oil or watercolor paints, or our Epson 10000), read the
target with our SpectroCam spectrophotometer to create reference file
values, scan the target thru the Phase One FX camera, then have Monaco read
both the scanned custom target and the custom reference file to create the
profile? I know that creating a custom target with paint or printed on our
Epson would not be perfect as artists obviously use different paper
suppliers and paints, but it may be a more accurate profile because at least
the medias would be similar. Thanks in advance.
