I simply switched the SpectroScan to Port 2 and all was well.
Different hardware, similar problems... FireWire G3 PB, OS 904, Mitsu.
DiamondPro 900USB Monitor, X-Rite devices, and the infamous Keyspan adapter.
I use the DTP 92 and DTP 41 for profile work, and have gotten bad freezes
and crashes (once even a lost hard drive) if I plug the Keyspan into
anything other than a PowerBook-mounted USB slot.
And, like you Terry, my Keyspan's Port 1 has major bugs. All I can use now
is Port 2. I put my Keyspan in one slot of my PB, a MacAlly hub in the
other, and run my Mitsu. controller cable and peripherals through the hub.
I've also had to revert the Keyspan driver to 1.7 (1.8 is what crashed my
drive). Keyspan's tech support was not very helpful, either... their
recommendation was to make sure I run v1.8... after I told them that that
was what crashed my drive! So... good luck! And to think... this is the
Adapter recommended (and re-sold) on X-Rite's website!
