I'm running a G3 PowerBook (FireWire) with OS 9.2.1 with no problems like
you describe (I'm using the Keyspan 28x v1.8 drivers). The only issues I've
had have been when using a USB hub with both the iMate and Keyspan adapteres
plugged in on startup (freezes) and problem with Port 1 on the Keyspan where
I simply switched the SpectroScan to Port 2 and all was well.
Do you have the newer purple "iProfile Bundle" model or one of the older
models? Actually, they BOTH have worked fine in my experience. With the
purple models, I'd use the supplied USB adapter. It always worked flawless
for me.
Go with Andrew's suggestion of using the Measure Tool instead of the
profiling module to take your readings. I always use the measurement module
after I had the occasional glitch using the profiling module.
