Aside from the old 'creation and storage provided on pc based systems
and database management naming conventions, I imagine HP's RIP uses a
shell on the MAC similar to Scanvec-Amiable's PhotoPrint and
ColorChoice RIPs. dll's all over the place! On a MAC even! Who'd have
thunk it! The internal name is often used by the RIP menus for
display purposes and to identify defined workflows, whereas the
convoluted coded external names conform to PC coding conventions
which still harken to 88888888.333.
And yet, because Epsons, Canon and many others also use external
names different than their descriptive internal cousins, one could
surmise they just don't want people a messin' with their profiles.
And furthermore...oh I'll just shut up...
