A little confusing, though, the fact that is seems to
have cross-rendering available too. Three profiles: press
(input/reference?), printer(I guess simulation?), proofer(final
destination?) but the people at the show seemed to think you had to
select the proofer profile twice, both in the "printer" and in the
"proofer" boxes... not clear to me either.
Suppose you send RGB PostScript, then you have RGB source - CMYK
simulation and output - CMYK destination (proofer) which calls for
cross-rendering.
Copying the destination (proofer) profile into the simulation and
output (press) slot in the cross-rendering chain would generate a
conversion that simulates itself.
But there are so many things users can do wrong. Like trying to proof
glossy offset on copier paper that'll give the inkjet a gamut the
size of newsprint, as the old BESTColor v3 manual notes -:).
