Hi All,
Does anyone know what might be slowing things down for me in
Photoshop 6.0.1.? When I open a file, be it only a few megs
or 150 megs, there is a long delay after the files appears
to finish being read and when it finally opens and is
displayed. This delay happens if the same profile as my
working space is loaded or even if there is a mismatch.
If there is a mismatch, the opening of the file proceeds
normally - the progress bar appears and my Dual G4 500 mhz
Mac makes short work of it, then the mismatch dialog comes
up and I instruct Photoshop to convert to my working space.
Once again a progress bar appears and is dispatched in short
order, then the delay happens and everything stops and sits
there. The little hands on the clock cursor stop spinning
and it looks like everything is locked up, the mouse will
move the clock cursor around but I can't switch out of
Photoshop to the Finder or do anything. Then after about a
minute the file is suddenly displayed on the monitor.
I have tried trashing all the ColorSync prefs and ran
Profile First Aid, which found no problems. I also checked
to make sure that the Display Profile Alias was finding the
correct profile, which it was. Could there be something
wrong with some of the Adobe Application support files in
the System folder? I'm running MacOS 9.1, ColorSync 3.03 and
Photoshop 6.0.1.
Thanks for the help,
David Wollmann
