Terry,
Here is a way to evaluate an input profile. I'd like some feedback on
this technique myself. You didn't list BBEdit but I assume you have a
text editor. All you need is the text editor and ColorLab. Profiles
made with ProfileMaker have the data for the reference and the data
for the sample written as part of the file. Open the profile in
question in BBEdit. Copy from "BEGIN_DATA_FORMAT" to "END_DATA" (RGB
data) paste into a new document and save as "sample". Copy from
"BEGIN_DATA_FORMAT" to "END_DATA" (XYZ/Lab data) paste into a new
document and save as "reference". Now open both text documents in
ColorLab, select the RGB sample data window, go to the filter menu
and under ICC pick either ColorSync or LogoSync (different results,
feedback?). In the matching options dialog that pops up pick the
profile you are evaluating for source profile, pick generic Lab (it's
the only Lab profile I have, feedback?) for destination, un-check
softproof, pick absolute for intent (yes?). Perform conversion. Now
pick Comparing from the special menu. Ta-Da. What do you think?
