Or for visual comparison (I'mn big on visual versus numeric techniques) you
could reverse this system, and build an image file by replacing the Lab
values on a scan of your target's patches with the known Lab values, then
place this as a layer in a profiled scan of the target. This would allow you
to compare layers, and run layer modes like Difference to see how close they
are. By making half of each patch in your Lab values layer transparent, you
could overlay the Lab values on the profiled scan patches for direct visual
comparison, and (this might require flattening, I don't recall) compare the
Lab values of one to the other with the eye dropper tool.
