Adobe RGB(1998)?
No, don't use ANY color spaces/profiles when you print the testchart you
intend to measure/profile..
It goes something like this:
* From the Print dialog, go into Mode:Custom:Advanced and choose "No Color
Adjustment". Choose the Print Quality you want and a Media Type that matches
your paper. Click on "Save Settings..." and give it a descriptive name that
makes sense to you. Exit from this dialog.
* In the main Print window, choose Mode:Custom and now select the settings
you named in the step above.
* Source Space should be set to Document: "Untagged RGB". If it has a
profile assigned, you must go back to Mode:Assign Profile: "Don't Color
Manage this Document" and hit OK (this will "untag" the file).
* Print Space should be set to Profile: "Same as Source".
* Print testchart. After this, measure and create profile.
* Drop profile in ColorSync folder. Now you will choose this profile as your
Print Space and your Source Space should be whatever the document is tagged
with (rendering intent is up to you but probably should be either RelCol or
Perceptual for normal use - proofing would be an exception to this). All
other print settings need to be EXACTLY the same as you printed the
testchart.
A word about Media Type:
If you're using a non-Epson paper, about the only thing you can do is try
printing with the different media settings to see which gives the best
result. You're looking for a compromise between getting the full color gamut
out of the printer and at the same time not getting an excess of ink/ink
pooling.
Good luck,
Terry
