Thanks Stephen
I have tried this method, but it just doesn't work on my configuration.
In Profiles mode, there is no way to save settings (message " can not
save settings because one of the tables is custom") and if I try edit
the image, button switches from "profiles" to "device link" (non-ICC
scanning). Maybe I would be better off with the latest version (I have
3.0). If I try the preconfigured "smartsets" I get the message files
corrupted. Probably needs a clean install instead of just upgrading.
But yes it is a great scanner. The custom input profile that I just made
is beaut for scanning to CMYK. I have to find an output profile
corresponding to my Photoshop custom SWOP coated 20% GCR 100-300-0
setting. Right now I have to scan to Euro Offset and convert to my SWOP
when I open files in Photoshop. Anyone knows where this profile can be
obtained? Or edited?
Thanks again!

In order to get your particular settings saved, it is necessary to enter
other scan control params such as LCH curves, etc., if even you don't
really
change them. These other params are part of the ICC Profile Device
settings
and/or Device Link settings. Thus, "Eversmart" settings. (Smart for your
needs.)
The Creo Scitex www site has particularly good tutorials to walk thru.
Good
lessons not only for their scanners, but for work flow too.
What great and accurate scanners for CMYK files and RGB as well.
