The few OSX savvy applications I have that run under OSX recognize the
dongle. If you have the necessary (usually USB) drivers in the classic
system folder, you should be able to get dongles to run fine if you boot
into Classic. What applications and dongles are you having problems with?
As for applications that deal with the display, I've had no problem with
Optical running under OS9 for the initial calibration/profiling, then
booting into OSX and having that profile recognized and used.
