The problem is this: A CMYK value specified in Photoshop or Illustrator,
then placed into Pagemaker, will not print the same as the identical CMYK
values specified directly in Pagemaker. There is obviously some sort of
translation going on, and I can't seem to get to the bottom of it.
I had a similar problem with Pagemaker 6.5 and a Fiery Rip on an Epson
5000. RGB source info would print fine but I could not get CMYK source
info to match output from other applications. PageMaker 6.0 did not
share this problem.
This was my solution, I edited the Fiery PPD which was called >Fiery LX
Stylus Pro 5000 v1.1<. Open the PPD in a text editor, BBEdit, or even
Word. Look for the heading >General Information and Defaults<, under
this is a comment about the default Color Space, the original PPD was
set for RGB, I simply changed this to CMYK. I then saved the PPD with a
new title so I knew it was for PageMaker 6.5 with CMYK imports, such as
>Fiery Pagemaker 6.5 CMYK<. With this new PPD you simply select this in
PageMaker's Print dialog window and print as you normally would.
Now I can once again get all my applications to match output. This may
the same problem your are experiencing.
Good Luck.
