Not necessary but a good idea. If I remember correctly, Carbon applications will happily use the type/creator codes to recognize profiles but native Cocoa apps may require .icc extensions, especially if you move away from HFS as your file system.
It is a good idea to get into the habit...
This is moving forward right? I guess I should be comforted by three letter file extensions as I have been seeing them since the late 70's.... somehow it's not so comforting though... two steps forward, one step back...
