Andrew:
The Mac beta is very rough. I use it only because I don't want to go back to
multiple platforms and I was able to get it to work in a primitive way. If
you have a pc - that would really be the way to go. If you have some time
and an idle Mac....
Well there are a ton of extension conflicts, if you strip down to "OS 9.2
Base" with Conflict Catcher and you have some form of coherent TCP/IP going
on your network you should be ok. I am using a 7000 here with a network
card.
Also I am using the MIS Full Spectrum Neutral Inks. Really nice quadtone
prints. Beautiful smooth grayscale, great color. For someone moving from
classic selenium toned silver bromide printing, it kind of gives you a
beautiful compromise between the range of platinum and the color and d-max
of silver.
I am told that it may work best on the Epson 9000. There is a photo lab
nearby that is driving a 9000 with the pc version of ImagePrint and the
prints I have seen are absolutely breathtaking. There is also a photo
gallery at this lab and they have quadtone, silver and platinum prints side
by side on the walls. Generally speaking the uninitiated prefer the
quadtones!
