First, I'd like to thank everyone who responded to my post about
color-managed images turning blue in PS 7. I think we (the Kodak rep and I)
have narrowed it down to a corrupt DCBII input profile.
Of course, now that we've gotten that pretty much straightened out we have a
new problem.
The basics:
We're an corporate digital photo studio, using mostly DCBIIs and
Cantare/CantareXYs. The Cantares produce proprietary Leaf files called
'mosaics,' which are then dropped onto a hot-folder which:
1. runs them through a Leaf batch processor to convert them to RGB (with an
input profile embedded)
2. hands them off to the Kodak Imaging Server Suite which
3. converts them to CMYK, saves the 4-color hi-res to the server and sends a
copy to the RIP to be proofed.
The problem:
In theory, even though the Cantare we use for on-figure fashion and the
CantareXYs we use for 'hard-line on-figure' shots use different input
profiles their images should be able to process through the same hot-folder
because the ISS's policy on input profiles is set to "accept if present." In
practice, though, the ISS doesn't seem to be recognizing the input profiles
at all. This isn't such a big deal for the fashion images, because the ISS
is set to default to the input profile of the fashion camera if no other is
found, but the shots from the XYs are getting hosed.
The Hypothesis:
I think I've isolated the Leaf batch processor as the weak link in the
chain. When I save a mosaic in LeafCapture and then run it through the batch
processor, the resulting RGB will have the proper input profile embedded.
And if I then take that RGB file, it'll run through any hot-folder on the
system and its input profile will be recognized. However when I try to run
the mosaic through the entire workflow (including the batch processor), by
the time it gets to the ISS it gets hit with the default fashion profile
because the one it came in with is either missing or unrecognizable.
Any ideas?
Thank you,
Steve Gomes
