Well, the Imation guy just left....and after Epson saying our problem was the
Indelible Inks (specifically the black viscosity)......and after Imation
flushing out all of our wonderful Indelible Inks and replacing them with OEM
Dyes.....it ends up there is still a problem with the black ink head (as we
predicted).
Tomorrow, they will be back with (several) new heads, and replace them until we
get a good clean print.
The way we are able to prove that it was a printer flaw, instead of 'just the
way it is', was that we printed our sample (a small piece of a digital camera
image, rez'd up to 4x5 @ 360 dpi) file (which illustrates the problem) on both
the 7000 and our 2000P. It was clear that there was a problem on the 7000
print, and not on the 2000P print.
BTW: With the dyes, the problem showed up even more, as the dye inks are just
that much more vibrant. ;-)
I feel somewhat vindicated, and look forward to be able to get back to printing,
instead of running test prints.
And I want to thank everyone for all their help in pinning down the problem.
