Hi Bruce,
I'm not trying to pick a fight with Andrew or you - one lightweight amateur
against two heavyweight pros - I don't have a chance!!
I was just getting a bit fed up the other night with the constant sniping at
Epson on many lists. Of course I don't want you or Andrew to stop pointing
Epson in the right direction (as long as most people think it is the right
direction - for beginners and amateurs, as well as professionals). But
Andrew's "two negative comments" on various lists that I read just seemed
like 200 to me. I think
there are too many people on lists rubbishing manufacturers everytime
something doesn't work to their liking.
My guess is that Epson printers and drivers are adequate for the vast
majority of users. None of my photographic aquaintances make custom
profiles; they laugh at me for wasting my time and money doing so, and get
their Epson prints accepted at local, national, and even international
level - all done with the much-maligned Epson driver.
I accept there is a case for better drivers for the professional Epsons, and
Andrew's suggestion of including an alternative RIP in the box seems a good
answer. Why don't Colorbyte simply give their RIP away free on production of
proof of purchase of a professional Epson? Other software manufacturers do
this sort of thing to get people hooked on the upgrade cycle.
Bob Frost.

You'd rather Andrew just pretended there was no problem, and that all

The Epson printers are great. The drivers need work. Andrew is one of

the people trying to point them in the right direction.
