I really enjoy learning from all of you and hope my questions will
be answered. When exporting from InDesign 2 to PDF, how can you get
the high resolution PDF files to separate with spot colors? We can
only get composite and no control over the separation especially
regarding spot colors or dyelines. Secondly, can you export high
resolution composite into CMYK and spot color? Thoughts on how the
trapping engine of InDesign fairs up to Industrial strength
trapping? Comments on when Acrobat Distiller will run on OS X?
When exporting PDF from InDesign it will always be in composite, if
you need a separated PDF you have to write a separated PS-file and
distill. PDF exported from InDesign supports N-space so you can get a
hires CMYK -PDF with Spotcolors.
One real big advantage with exporting PDFs from InDesign is when you
check the "Leave Colors Unchanged" box. This is the only way of any
app to get a combined RGB and CMYK output of native files. I mean you
don't have to have all RGB images as EPS, it will work with .psd and
TIFFs as well. If you also embed profiles you are really on the spot.
This is of course requires a workflow that can take care of this PDF
as an input. Creos Prinergy system is one of them.
To use InDesigns trapping you must output separations. When exporting
PDFs you are expected to have a post processing system.
