It is technically possible to convert an ICC profile into a PS3 CSD and/or CRD (Color
Space Dictionary, Color Rendering Dictionary respectively), thereby applying the ICC
profile to a pure PostScript RIP. Some profiling packages even support CRDs and CSDs an
as an alternative output format to ICC. With many commercial RIPs, this is
how they actually apply ICC profiles internally.
In PostScript land, a CSD corresponds to an input profile (converting RGB or CMYK to
calibrated CIE colorspace), and a CRD corresponds to an output profile (converting
CIE colorspace to device colorspace). Off hand, I don't know what tools are
available to do such a conversion, or which profiling packages support CSD and
CRD output (sorry).
