It is possible to completely disable any and all conversion of the color
data inside the printer through the driver. You just need the right
driver. I had Xerox rewrite the driver so as to not only send raw but
disable and automatic color correction. the issue is that OEM driver's
"NONE" setting is actually the same as automatic. This modified driver
known internally at Xerox as "Safe Raw" will make the none setting
function as stated NONE. Once you have loaded this new driver you can
then output patches to create a profile on some third party program.
Stay away from the PhaserMatch software that comes bundled with the
7700. It doesn't work!
The problem that I have discovered with the 7700 is that it has a color
shift at 30 prints. That is to say that every printout beyond the 30th
has a shift. In my case darker and warmer. I believe it to be a heat
issue.
You can get great prints and even use this printer as a contract proffer
with this driver and a good profile. We operate a graphic design studio
and and have some very color critical clients. We use our 7700 as a
proffer with very good results. If any one wants the modified driver
contact me off list and I'll email it to you.
