This can be confusing. 'spectrodensitometer' is just the preferred term for what
used to be (and often still is) less accurately called a spectrophotometer. The
use of '-densitometer' (as opposed to 'spectrocolorimeter' or 'spectrometer')
implies that the instrument has the same optical geometry as a densitometer
(i.e. 0/45) and can be used for densitometry - but this has long been possible
for 0/45 instruments using the ISO 5-3 spectral response data.
The recent change in terminology arises from the recognition that such an
instrument is not strictly a photometer.
