Neil,
Maybe we can buy LaCie monitors from you?? ;-) - It seems that the outlet in
this part of the world is faulty. Since about a year ago the quality of
these monitors has gone down quite a bit, and it is not uncommon to take a
new one out of the box, see irregular color on different parts of the
screen, send it in for a new one, and receive a second monitor with the same
or a different problem, repeating the process until a decent unit finally
arrives. I always recommend the user to take a good look at the monitor
with a grey and then a white background and degauss before calibrating to
make sure that the color is as even as possible. In several cases,
complaints about color appearance issues has been due to the
spectrophotometer being placed a bit to the right or left (as the OSD's
brightness and size is a real nuisance and usually prevents placing the
instrument exactly in the center) where the monitor might be greener and
lighter or more red, and then seeing the images in Photoshop in a different
place. Given the fact that everyone on this list seems very happy with
these monitors, I am curious if this is a local problem. If you have a
moment, would you mind opening the same image 4 or six times in Photoshop,
doing a tile and telliing me if they are all the same. I am really
intrigued.
Regards.
