Thanks for the link. Now I know whom I have to thank for GTI's nice
dimming booth ;-) I wish they would make their small "three cabin"
booth dimmable...
I like his comments regarding RGB workflow and his experience with
"scientific" workflows that do not work:-) Totaly agreed ;-) But I
guess others might think different.
His info regarding the IT 8.7 standard is clearly wrong. Just because
most target manufacturers are selling you IT 8.7 targets not meeting
the standard and having low quality doesn't mean IT 8.7 targets have
a lower density range or saturation in general. The IT standard
requires different! Different to his claims the IT 8.7 standard does
require manufacturers to produce targets that make use of the full
density/chrominance range of the base material. I have just checked
some of the HCT targets and found that they do not make use of the
full density range of the base material either. Actualy, I can show
IT targets that do have better values than HCT targets. I did test
all the target manufacturers I know last week and AFAIK there are
only two manufacturers meeting the IT 8.7 standard. Kodak does not
make full use of the color gamut of Ektachrome but otherwise seems to
do a decent job. Most other target manufacturers seem to have never
read the IT 8.7 standard and so are their targets: low density range,

Even after >20 years in the computer business I am still surprised
what buyers seem to accept without complaints.
