Monitors flat vs crt / Apple low end

Hi

If a person wanted to purchase a lower-priced MAC and wanted to be able
to do decent color correction, would the new flat panel lcd monitors that
come with an iMac or iBook be adequate if they were calibrated with
something like the Monitor Spyder and PhotoCal LCD/CRT?
Or would the iMac that has a CRT monitor be better (or even adequate)?
Does anyone know of any review/comparison articles or info?
