Is it correct that ICC profiles cannot properly describe Hexachrome
(CMYKOG) inks? If so, how do the current "Hexachrome savvy"
applications (ColorBlind, Profilemaker,...?) solve this problem?
It is correct that 4 color CMYK ICC profiles cannot fully describe
Hexachrome inks like 6CLR (MCH6) mutli-channel ICC profiles can.
With ColorCal (Scanvec-Amiable) I can choose to build CMYK-optimized
(secret sauce) profiles or MCH6, MCH8, etc. However, many
applications do not recognize MCH, so building an MCH profile is
pretty much useless unless you are in an MCH workflow (hexachrome is
a good example) for separations, testing, etc.
Colorblind and Monaco are MCH-capable profiling applications. Don't
know about PM.
Good question though...
