Hello listmembers
After reading messages for a month; here4s my first in.
I4m surprised over how few on the list talks about first-class
LCD-monitors versus CRT4s.
Stefan Ohlsson(on this list sometimes) and I, made some tests a month
ago in this issue.
We started with the 21" Barco Ref. Cal. , beacuase it4s supposed to be
the monitor that
all the others are compared to, a kind of "Iron-meter-in-Paris-monitor".
Like a Ferrari,
and with same price, compared to other monitors.
Measured and calibrated with it4s own device and software.
The usual 6500K, gamma 2.2, black 0,30 cd/sqm, white 85 cd/sqm,
was then the target for a CRT LaCie 22" and a LCD Eizo Flexscan 685EX
18".
Measured with EyeOne and ProfileMaker.
We tried to compared these two to the Barco and found out that there
where no
problems for the Eizo, it was more the opposite. There where more to
take!
Next test gave us all we needed;
We calibrated compared to a viewing-booth4s(JustNormlicht) values, with
EyeOne and the superior
basICColor display-software(with DDC-cabel).
Letting the monitor go to almost maximum at 245 cd/sqm and the measured
colortemp
at 5533K, for the booth. We then used those figures for targets. A gamma
2.0 was choosen
after a few tests as the most matching(Eizo told us later that this is
around the native gamma of the monitor).
Matching a print and the monitor was the most close I4ve ever seen
in 10 years of digital imaging. Amazing is the word!
It4s hard to explain, but it4s more like looking on a 4x5 trans than to
be flooded by a solarium!
This month Eizo is shipping their top-of-the-line 21" 985EXK for $2400.
It4s a monster-window!
Best regards and a Merry...
