Thanks to Andrew and Jim for their early replies,
To summarise so far:
I am using the 'purple' Spectrolino/Spectroscan.
I removed the previous version of PM4.1 after updating to OS10.2.3 but
before installing PM4.11.
In order to connect the Spectro. I have to use:
1) a powered Mac serial/serial cable
2) a Mac serial/PCserial converter
3) a GoHubs Go-Com232 serial/USB converter
4) a standard USB connecting cable
This combination works fine when the Mac is booted into OS9.
On Gretag's recommendations I am using a Keyspan driver (v1.4) in the
absence of a driver for OSX from GoHubs. (uninstalled and reinstalled)
I also ran
sudo rm -R /System/Library/StartupItems/Aladdin
and
sudo rm /usr/libexec/aksusbd
from Terminal.
My conclusion so far is that the USB driver is the problem - the Keyspan
driver does not recognise the Go-Com232.
Does anyone know of a solution?
